Q. Why do I get the error "d3dx9_32.dll is missing"?
This generally happens when you install the game in a LUA (Limited User Account). The fact is the DLL is not missing, it just didn't get installed since you ran the install with limited permissions. You can do two things. a) You can install the game with Admin rights and the game installer will install the missing DLL to the correct location, or b) Download and install the latest version of the DirectX End User Runtime with full admin rights.

Q. Does the game feature mature or violent content?
No. The game is suitable for all age groups and features no gore, violence or mature content.

Q. What are the minimum hardware requirements for the game?
The game can run on even basic low end hardware, however don't expect it to run flawlessly on it. The game can be played with mid-range gaming hardware setups, however drawing conclusions on the basis of vague statements like these is not the best thing to do. It is therefore recommended that you first download and run the demo version of the game to get a sense of how the game runs on a particular hardware setup. You can find more details of the recommended and minimum settings required in the game description.

Q. Why does my game run slow even though I have a powerful graphics card?
Please install the latest drivers for your graphics card. Hardware manufacturers make drivers for their products available on their web-sites. Some of the commonly used graphics cards are from Intel, NVIDIA and ATI.

Q. In the demo version when I click "Buy" or the game website url, the window minimizes and nothing happens, why?
The game application minimizes itself, tries to open the web-browser and redirects it to this site. However, on some systems the web-browser is a bit slow to start up. If there is a considerable delay in the browser starting up, it can give an illusion that the application minimized for no particular reason. Have patience the site will come up eventually.

Q. What graphics cards are supported?
The game has been tested with several high end NVIDIA cards as well as ATI - please be aware that if using ATI cards, or onboard graphics chipset (where your PC does not have a separate dedicated card for graphics) you may experience performance issues at high resolutions.

 Q. Why is there a difference in performance when I set the graphics options to use OpenGL vs. DirectX?
90% of 3D games out there are based on DirectX. It's a well known fact that OpenGL suffers on certain graphics cards, especially ATI. NVIDIA on the other hand has a more robust OpenGL implementation and the divergence between the APIs is not that severe. However, even on NVIDIA OpenGL is always somewhat slower than Direct3D (DirectX).

Q. What files do I need to collect before contacting support?
Take a screen shot (Shift-PrtScrn) and paste into Microsoft Paint (or equivalent program) and save as a JPEG file. Collect all the files from the following directory:
          C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\o2engine
There should be three files: o2debug.log, o2error.log, o2info.log. (Alternatively you could do a search for these files in your Windows installation directory.) Zip up all the files (the screen shot and the 3 logs) and send an email describing as much details as possible and the name of the game to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Q. Why does my system crash with a Blue Screen (BSOD) ?
Q. Why do I hear a disturbing LOUD noise when the powerup is activated ?

This problem was observed on the nForce range of on-board sound cards. Unfortunately BSODs occur when there are problems with a driver. If you do have an nForce card or face a similar problem, uninstall/remove the current driver and install a new driver from the Realtek website. It is recommended that you uninstall the older driver first before attempting to install the newer one. If your sound card is not of the nForce type, please download and install the correct driver from the manufacturer's website site.

Q. Why is it that I can't hear some sounds while I can hear other sounds.
Please update your sound drivers. Some older drivers have been known to cause problems with sound mixing.

Q. Can I use a game controller or a joystick to play the game?
Yes you can. By default the joystick or the game controller axis is used to move the main character of the game (Doofus) Forward/Back/Left/Right. To control the camera you will have to assign the game controller or joystick keys to camera movement. To do that, start the game, go to Options>>Controls in the controls section you should find "Camera Keys" on the top right corner. Click on the buttons representing the keys with the mouse and then press the appropriate button or hat direction to assign it the respective camera motion. Similarly you can assign joystick buttons to the "Use Item" and "Jump" keys in the adjacent "Control Keys" section.

Q. Why do I see fine grains of sand sized shiny particles sometimes on the display?
This is due to floating point inaccuracies of the your graphics card - it should only show up at low resolutions.

Q. Is there a Linux or a MacOS version of the game? Is there a PS2/PS3 or XBox 360 version planned?
At the current time, NO. However, we do plan to port the engine and the game to other platforms if there are enough people willing to support us. You can participate in the poll here to let us know which platforms/OSes would you like to see the game ported on. On Linux systems the game is said to run pretty well under Wine using the OpenGL renderer, though we haven't tested it ourselves.

Q. If I have issues with my game that are not documented here?
In that case you can visit our forums where you can put your queries on an appropriate board. The team visits the forums frequently and will be more than willing to help you out. The other advantage of posting on the forum is that any other player with a problem similar to yours could also help you out. You could get help faster and quicker than if you were to mail support. We encourage you to join our forum. Registration is free.
